Department of Infant Development
Overview

Scientists in the Department of Infant Development are investigating how to better identify infants at risk for developmental disabilities. They are working to develop innovative and more beneficial approaches to intervention and to establish newer strategies for rehabilitation, for people across their lifespan. Research projects focus on a broad range of issues relevant to early development of brain and behavior, including prenatal and perinatal factors such as intrauterine growth retardation and birth complications. In addition to facilities at IBR, the Department includes a site in the level III neonatal intensive care unit at Richmond University Medical Center, Staten Island.
